Victorian teachers are being offered $50,000 to relocate from Melbourne to teach in rural regions. This part of the new Victorian Government plan to tackle the shortage of qualified teachers in regional schools. The $45.2 million package will assist to breakdown the gap between student results in the city and regional areas.
If teachers stay for three years in the most in-need schools, they will be entitled to a further $9000 a year. Education Minister James Merlino said, “This is about attracting the best and incentivising them to stay.”
